Factoring in South Africa's sugar tax of 2.21 rand per 100 grams of sugar on sugary drinks, and the rising rates of type 2 diabetes in Soweto and Khayelitsha, should the national government raise that levy to 5 rand per 100 grams by 2027 and ring-fence the revenue for school nutrition programmes?
